                    1. Write the correct unit (kg, mg or g) used to weigh the following objects.

                       a. b. c. d.

                             _________ _________ _________ _________

                             _________ _________ _________ _________

                   2. Collect the following things from your surroundings and estimate their weights by
holding them in your hand. estimate and write whether the given objects weigh more
than 1 kg or less than 1 kg.

                       a. b. c. d.

The following relationships between the units of weight are helpful in conversion.

                                      1 kilogram = 1000 grams or 1 kg = 1000 g
                                          1 gram = 1000 milligrams or 1 g = 1000 mg

                Kilograms into grams

To convert kilograms into grams, we multiply the number of kilograms by 1000 and
put g to the right of the product.
                examples: a. 9 kg = (9 × 1000 ) g = 9000 g b. 4 kg = (4 × 1000 ) g = 4000 g

                                                                                                             163
